We were delighted to support the IOSH Railway Group in celebrating the 200th anniversary of modern railways in the UK by attending their annual railway conference, New Railway Beginnings – Building on 200 Years of Railway Learning.
Held at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre on one of the hottest days of the year, the IOSH Conference 2025 welcomed around 100 delegates from across the rail industry and beyond. Kelvin TOP-SET was proud to be a Gold Sponsor of the conference, represented by Ian Prosser CBE (Former HM Chief Inspector of Railways) and our staff team member, Jude Crooks.
The day featured a series of insightful presentations and discussions, reflecting on the lessons of the past to help shape the present and future of rail safety. These discussions were framed within the context of the implementation of the new arm’s-length publicly owned body, Great British Railways (GBR), which will be responsible for rail services and infrastructure.
The railway conference brought together safety professionals from across the rail industry and beyond, creating invaluable opportunities for open discussions, sharing of concerns, solutions, and a deeper understanding of the challenges ahead.
A key takeaway from the 2025 IOSH conference is the vital importance of collaboration to ensure safety is at the very heart of reform. It was made very clear, with overwhelming support from delegates, that every organisation within the industry, public or private, large or small, has a role to play in working together to uphold and further the UK’s exemplary rail safety record.
