Press release – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kelvin TOP-SET invests £50,000 in world’s first ‘real time’ investigation App
Kelvin TOP-SET, the leading Incident Investigation specialist, has announced an investment of £50,000 in an innovative investigation App. TOP-SET Live enables teams to collaborate from multiple locations. Details, images, live sketches, audio and video can be shared in ‘real time’ from remote locations.
Iain Livingstone, developer of TOP-SET Live, commented:
“Unique aspects of this App are that users can see and speak to each other whilst drawing on the screen and incorporating symbols if required. This allows investigators to easily highlight details of complex equipment failures and problems as well as location-specific areas of concern, so that issues can quickly be identified and resolved.”
David Ramsay, Kelvin TOP-SET Group Managing Director said: “We are very excited to be launching our new App. This software will be of great benefit to the rail industry. It is a very powerful communication tool for investigations and maintenance problem solving. The App is very intuitive to use and enables crucial information to be discussed live. This can substantially cut down on time, travel and cost.
It can also eliminate the need for track permits for some team members as live details and images from the track site can be shared instantly with those in the office such as the Investigation HQ or Maintenance Manager. Images and messages can also be stored for subsequent analysis and discussion.”
As long as a 3G or Wi-Fi connection is available, this App can be utilised anywhere in the world and the collaborative App has been used successfully in a recent transatlantic investigation where several parties were able to simultaneously look at, discuss and draw on photographs of failed equipment. Although it has been designed for investigating incidents, it can be applied to any issue or problem, and used as a valuable communication tool between several locations. The App is fully functional on multiple devices including desktop computers, tablets and smartphones so is easy to use no matter what technology the user prefers to operate.
Investigation is a vital process for understanding and preventing incidents, and Kelvin TOP-SET has 30 years of Incident Investigation experience assisting major companies and government bodies in diverse locations and industries worldwide.
Mr Ramsay continued: “Kelvin TOP-SET has an established reputation for its Incident Investigation courses, e-learning tools and software. We are proud to be further enhancing our offerings with the introduction of the TOP-SET Live App, which will provide even more benefits to our clients.”
Although rail is a prime sector for Kelvin TOP-SET, the company has a significant client base in many other industrial sectors including utilities, ports, marine, civil engineering, airports and oil and gas.
