More used to working with international clients around the globe, Staff at Kelvin TOP-SET recently engaged with the local community, participating in a Work Experience Programme linking with nearby school Largs Academy.

Approached by fourth year student Ewan Leitch, Directors at Kelvin TOP-SET were asked if he could spend a week working with the company. Group Managing Director David Ramsay explained, “We were delighted to be asked to help a young person achieve a greater understanding of the world of work and to contribute to generating skills in the next generation’s workforce.”

Ewan was given a shortened version of the Induction Program designed for all new employees. “We wanted him to really gain an understanding of what we do here at TOP-SET. We are a unique company and felt it was important for Ewan to leave us at the end of the week feeling he understood what we do, and for Ewan to have helped in each and every Department.”

Ewan then worked his way around the Company, spending time learning how each Department operates, being given specific tasks and projects to do as the progressed. At the end of a highly successful week Ewan enjoyed his time at Kelvin TOP-SET so much he was heard saying he did not wish to return to school!

This first venture into supporting the local workforce of the future was so mutually successful that staff are already looking forward to welcoming another student in 2015.
